Roger Peace pens theme song for Curtains Up!

Roger Peace has been an integral part of the Theatre scene in Montreal since 1957. As a playwright/director/song writer, he has written and directed Piaf: Love Conquers All, Red Hot Mama: Songs and Stories of Sophie Tucker, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, Judy: By Myself and Mahalia Jackson: the Musical, to name but a few.

He has also been a good friend to Curtains Up since its inception in 2012 – our first video was shot in Mr. Peace’s home, with Ranee Lee.

A couple of years ago, he approached us telling us that he had written lyrics for a theme song for Curtains Up!  Fast forward to 2016, he told us that the highly creative Taurey Butler, jazz pianist at the House of Jazz, had written the orchestration for the song and that the very talented Chris Barillaro would be bringing it to life with his vocals. On an early spring day, we were off to George Doxas’ Music Studio, to put the song down, forever immortalizing our Montreal English Arts&Culture group in music!

This is a short video of the taping with Taurey Butler, Chris Barillaro, and…Roger Peace:

We thank you all – ! Taurey, Chris, George and Tyson (editing) for getting it done!

Roger…all of us at Curtains Up thank you so very much for all the time, creative energy, talent and…LOVE…that you have put into pulling this all together. And…for your belief in the Musical and Theatre in Montreal!
